As most of our clients would attest to, we greatly value the relationship that is formed between clinics and our staff. Whether it be from sales and implementation to professional services and account management, we understand that each of our clinics have specific needs that we must help address. Throughout the development of this relationship, sometimes we learn about a gap in our industry that is awaiting attention. When this happens, we like to dig deep into the gap and see if and how TheraOffice can work to fill it.

In December of 2020, Marlene S. came to us looking for an EMR system to help her manage her occupational therapy practice; however, she was not your average OT. She specialized in providing in-home low vision rehabilitation. This is a rather unique specialty, but one that is extremely important.

Marlene worked closely with Tom K., our VP of Sales, to ensure that TheraOffice was the right fit for her. Then, she worked with Holly H., implementation specialist, to help her become proficient in TheraOffice and tailor the software to her exact needs. A few months passed, and Marlene found herself loving the software so much that she approached us about a partnership with her consulting company.

Amidst treating patients, Marlene teamed up with her friend and colleague, Nilima T., to start Theia OT. Marlene and Nilima have a combined 35+ years in the low vision field and decided that it was time to use their expertise to help other low vision OTs kickstart their practices. These two women provide guidance, support, and mentoring to aspiring low vision OT practice owners. They know what it takes because they have done it themselves! They provide direction when it comes to starting a practice and purchasing the correct equipment all the way through billing and getting paid (along with everything in between).

Most private practice owners would probably agree that there is an endless amount of information to think about when it comes to opening their doors for the first time and having some initial guidance and direction would be extremely beneficial. Despite this, one thing remains constant: the need for an EMR system that is fully integrated, easy to implement, customizable, and compliant. Luckily, Marlene and Nilima feel that TheraOffice is the answer for their clients. With that, the TheraOffice | Theia OT Partnership was born!

In order to officially develop this partnership, Marlene and Nilima of Theia OT and Tom K. and Dan Morrill, PT, DPT, and CEO/Co-Founder of TheraOffice, worked diligently to establish its framework. While in early discussions, Marlene stated that she was hoping “to get the word out about TheraOffice’s product and help those who are in private practice, or in a clinic setting, navigate the sometimes-confusing process of finding an EMR.”

Dan M. had the following to say about the partnership:

“Our main goal in our partnership with Theia OT is to not only help introduce rehabilitation to the Low Vision Therapy world, but also to leverage Marlene and Nilima’s expertise to adapt TheraOffice to accommodate the specialized documentation requirements of low vision therapy.”
